44% of games industry professionals have considered leaving the industry as a result of redundancies
A Skillsearch survey of 1,000 games industry professionals reveals widespread impact from redundancies: 44% have considered leaving the industry, and 22% were laid off in the past year. Only 35% were unaffected by layoffs. Of those laid off, 45% found new work, but only 27% feel secure in their new role. Job searches often took months, with 8% taking over a year. Art roles, senior positions, and UK-based workers were most impacted. Nearly half of respondents are concerned about AI's growing role, with 64% believing it negatively affects creativity. The industry workforce remains 74% male, and UK C-suite salaries averaged nearly £200K while junior roles averaged around £30K.
