ReactOS celebrates 30 years since its first commit in 1996, evolving from the failed FreeWin95 project into an open-source Windows NT clone. The project progressed through major milestones: version 0.1.0 (2003) with basic CD boot capability, 0.2.x with desktop support, 0.3.x introducing networking and SATA support despite an IP audit slowdown, and 0.4.x (2016-present) with improved shell and WinDbg debugging. Future development includes new NTFS and ATA drivers, SMP support, UEFI compatibility, and WDDM GPU drivers. The project now has 88,198 commits, 301 contributors, and nearly 15 million lines of code.
