2025 year in review

Astro's 2025 year saw significant growth with 113 releases, reaching 55,200 GitHub stars and 900,000+ weekly npm downloads. Major features introduced include live content collections for runtime data fetching, responsive images with automatic srcset generation, experimental fonts API, sessions API for server-side state, hash-based Content Security Policy support, and Chrome DevTools workspace integration. The project gained recognition in GitHub Octoverse and Stack Overflow surveys, secured major sponsorships from Cloudflare, Webflow, and Mux, and launched an agency partner program. Starlight documentation theme reached 7,600 stars powering sites for Cloudflare, Google, Microsoft, and others. Astro v6 alpha was released in December with many experimental features stabilized, setting the stage for 2026 developments including route caching and tracing hooks.
