A bit one sided to list all these advantages without a mention of any disadvantages. As with any OS (and in fact everything) there are two sides to every coin.
I’ve used Linux exclusively for about 3 years, going from Korora, Fedora, Kali (on occasion), Ubuntu, Gentoo to finally settle with Arch. I love that distro but the sheer amount of fires I had to constantly put out. I was obsessed with customisation, and the more I customised the more stuff broke every now and then. Performance suffered. Community forums were sometimes incredibly helpful, other times you were met with an entitled “Read the documentation and stop asking stupid questions”. I understand where it’s coming as these maintainers are working overtime and are unpaid, but it does leave a bitter taste at times. I had to restrain myself to answer the same way when I was put in their shoes.
I’m still using Arch to this day - albeit not as my OS anymore. I think every developer at least needs to know how to use a Unix terminal, and should give Linux a try to learn this too. But Linux is not perfect and most definitely is not the right tool for everyone.
