I was a bit hesitant switching from GA (mostly for having worked with it for so long) but Matomo looks really interesting and seems to have a lot of similarities with UA. Would be great if you somehow could import all of your events from GA directly into Matomo (not sure if thats actually possible)

I switched to Plausible Analytics a while back and it works really well. It has enough features and it is privacy focused. 10/10 would recommend it to everyone.
