yes C# is getting increasingly complex but most features are niche things most people don’t need to know about.
The language is not loosing its elegance but becoming more elegant by expanding language syntax and bcl coverage to remove boiler plate
id also argue that it is getting simpler, e.g. extension blocks are more intuitive than extension methods

Most of the complex stuff is optional and/or syntactic sugar. Just ignore it, if you want to keep the “old feel”.

The complexity of C# has grown over time since I can remember working in the .net 1.0 framework version. Sometimes I feel like the syntactic sugar is nice to have but do I really need it? Will it make my code more readable? I think Microsoft is destroying the elegance of C# when trying to compete with other languages such as python.

It’s sad that F# is not being used as it should be but at least it worked to shows that “functional” approach have a lot of good things that can be well used in C# as well. I really enjoy the (not so)new features like records and pattern matching, all features that came from F#.
